Laptop Running Hot? Here Is What To Do
A laptop that runs hot is uncomfortable, slows down, and can damage components long-term. Most overheating is caused by dust buildup or worn thermal paste — both fixable.
Try These First
Most laptop overheating is caused by clogged cooling vents, dust on the fans, or thermal paste that has dried out over the years. The fix is mechanical — not software.
- Check that air vents are not blocked — never use on a bed or pillow
- Look at fan exhaust — if dust is visible, it needs cleaning
- Use compressed air to blow out vents (laptop OFF, in short bursts)
- Check task manager for runaway processes using high CPU
- Update drivers, especially graphics drivers
- Bring it in for a full internal cleaning + new thermal paste
Internal Cleaning Service
A proper internal cleaning + thermal paste replacement makes most laptops feel like new. Call 239-513-1960 for pricing.
