Try These First
Outlook issues fall into a few buckets — profile corruption, OST/PST file issues, add-in conflicts, or sync problems. Walk through these in order.
- Restart Outlook completely (close and reopen)
- Open Outlook in Safe Mode (hold Ctrl when opening)
- Disable add-ins one at a time to find culprit
- Run Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (free tool)
- Repair Outlook profile in Control Panel > Mail
- Recreate Outlook profile from scratch
- Check OST/PST file size — large files cause issues
- For shared mailboxes — check permissions in M365 admin
