Not Receiving Emails? Here Is Why
Missing emails are usually one of three things: spam filter, account/server issue, or sender configuration. Lets narrow it down.
Check These In Order
Most missing email is in your Junk or Quarantine folder. The next most common cause is the sender being blocked or having delivery issues.
- Check Junk/Spam folder
- Check Quarantine in M365 admin (or ask IT to check)
- Search for the sender by name in case it landed in another folder
- Have the sender check their Sent folder — did it actually send?
- Check email forwarding rules — could be auto-forwarding away
- Check storage — full mailboxes stop receiving
- Check connection (offline mode in Outlook)
- For business — check email security gateway logs
