Laptop Fan Running Loud or Constantly?
A loud or constantly-running fan usually means dust, thermal paste, or a process eating CPU. All fixable.
Try These First
Loud fans are caused by either heat (computer cooling itself) or stuck/damaged fan blades. Both have solutions.
- Check Task Manager for processes using high CPU
- Update graphics drivers (often run hot when outdated)
- Check Windows Power Plan — set to Balanced
- Use compressed air to clear vents (laptop OFF)
- Use the laptop on a hard surface, not bed/lap
- Bring in for internal cleaning + new thermal paste
- For older laptops — fan replacement may be needed
